Hyderabad: State IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu has highlighted significant progress in the life sciences and pharmaceutical sectors. He announced that agreements worth Rs 35,820 crore have been secured in the past ten months.
Many companies have already begun expanding and starting production, which is expected to create 51,086 direct jobs and indirectly provide employment for an additional 1,50,000 people. One of the key projects involves Japan’s Takeda Life Sciences working with Hyderabad-based Biological E to produce 50 million doses of dengue vaccines annually for global distribution.
In addition, Zoetis, the world’s largest animal healthcare company, has opened a Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad. The biotechnology giant Amgen has also inaugurated its GCC in the city, which will employ 3,000 professionals. The Minister attributed these developments to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s visit to the U.S., which helped secure these agreements and led to the rapid setup of the centers by Zoetis and Amgen.
Looking ahead, Sridhar Babu mentioned that in the next two months, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will introduce a new policy to provide land allocations and incentives for companies, especially those in the life sciences sector, to establish operations in Telangana. He pointed out that no other Indian state has introduced such a forward-thinking policy.
The Minister also assured that the government will handle land acquisition for pharma clusters transparently and with community consent. He encouraged any concerned farmers to raise their issues with officials and stressed that the government will not be swayed by opposition groups trying to hinder development. He emphasized that the government is determined to move forward with growth and progress in the state.
