The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) public exam began smoothly in Hyderabad on Friday. Students who attempted their first language paper found it easy. However, some students faced issues with poor facilities at certain exam centers, especially in government schools.
Students from government schools in areas like Balanagar, Lingampally, and Kukatpally reported problems such as a lack of fans, proper seating, and poor lighting. Some exam centers also did not have drinking water facilities. Students felt that the Board of Secondary Education should have checked these conditions before approving the exam centers.
According to the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), the SSC exams are being conducted in 2,650 centers across Telangana. Around 4.95 lakh students (99.67%) appeared for the first exam. The School Education Department allowed a five-minute grace period for all students. To prevent cheating and ensure smooth conduct, 144 flying squad teams were deployed along with additional monitoring teams in sensitive centers.
Many students shared their experience of the first exam. Ramesh Reddy, a Class X student from Government High School, Jeedimetla, said he was nervous as it was his first public exam, but the paper was easy. Another student, Vinneth, who appeared for the exam at Government High School, Hayatnagar, said the Telugu question paper was simple, and he was hopeful of scoring good marks.
