Peddapalli: Minister Stresses Importance of Nutrition for Healthy Children
IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu emphasized the need for strict implementation of Poshan Maah 2024 to ensure the health of children. He attended the closing ceremony of the event in Manthani on Wednesday, along with district Collector Koya Shri Harsha.
During the event, the Minister participated in various activities such as Annaprasana (first feeding ceremony), Aksharabhayasam (initiation into education), and Srimantam (baby shower), which were all organized as part of the Poshan Maah programme.
In his speech, Sridhar Babu highlighted the importance of providing nutritious food to children from birth until the age of six, stating that this would help them grow up healthy. He pointed out that the Government of India is running the Poshan Maah 2024 programme to promote good nutrition among children.
The Minister also praised Anganwadi teachers for their services to pregnant women in both urban and rural areas. He acknowledged their significant role in implementing various government programmes. He reassured the teachers that the government would soon take steps to ensure their job security.
Additionally, Sridhar Babu mentioned that vacant positions of Anganwadi teachers and assistants in the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) would be filled promptly. He directed officials to prepare plans for constructing new Anganwadi buildings and requested the District Collector to organize a special medical camp to check the health of Anganwadi teachers and helpers.
District Collector Koya Shri Harsha also spoke at the event. He shared that Anganwadi centres are being transformed into pre-education centres. He emphasized the importance of teaching children through play-based activities, as per the guidelines of Kara Deepika and Priyadarshini. The Collector instructed that Anganwadi Centres should follow a daily teaching schedule.
Furthermore, the Collector advised officials to ensure that pregnant women who are anemic receive proper nutrition and medication. A plaque was unveiled at the Vilochavaram Anganwadi Centre, and a poster for the Swachha Tha Hi Seva campaign was released.
Several officials, including Manthani Revenue Division Officer V. Hanuma Naik, District Welfare Officer Rauf Khan, CDPOs, Anganwadi teachers, and other concerned authorities, attended the programme.
