    Hyderabad: Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, has been unanimously chosen as the President of the Telangana Badminton Association. The announcement was made on Friday by Pullela Gopichand, Vice President of the Badminton Association of India.

    During the event, Sridhar Babu shared his vision of turning Telangana into a sports hub, aligning with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s aspirations. He drew inspiration from a small sports university in South Korea, whose students recently won 37 medals at the Paris Olympics. Sridhar Babu also announced plans to establish a similar dedicated sports university in Telangana.

    He explained that the goal is to combine academics and sports to create well-rounded individuals while nurturing athletic talent. The government is currently working on a comprehensive sports policy in collaboration with education experts and renowned athletes. According to Sridhar Babu, the ultimate aim is to bring Telangana athletes to international prominence.

    The Minister also spoke about the untapped potential in rural Telangana. He stated that efforts would be made to identify and support talented athletes from rural areas. Plans include setting up sports hubs and creating extension centres of the proposed sports university in smaller towns, such as tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

    Additionally, Sridhar Babu emphasized the importance of upgrading infrastructure in government schools to match that of private institutions. This initiative aims to ensure equitable access to both academics and sports facilities for all children.

    He concluded by stressing the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and reducing disparities between the rich and the poor, ensuring equal opportunities for everyone in the state.
