Kagaz Nagar: The President of the Lorry Owners Welfare Association, Venna Kishore Babu, has accused the Sirpur Paper Mill management of spreading false information about local lorry owners. He also claimed that the mill is trying to deny the lorry owners their rightful benefits.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Kishore Babu explained that although the local lorry owners are ready to transport paper to various parts of the country, the mill is only using their lorries for 14 locations. For the remaining 24 locations, the mill is hiring outside lorries at lower rates.
He further explained that the lorry owners have been on strike for the past few months. They are demanding an increase in rent to match the rising costs of diesel and lorry parts. As part of the strike, they have stopped lorries loaded with paper in front of the association’s office.
Kishore Babu urged the lorry owners to bring their concerns to higher government officials. He believes that the issue can be resolved through discussions. He also accused the mill management of being unfair to the local community, including the mill workers, lorry owners, and drivers.
