The Special Educators Forum-India is asking Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to make the services of 970 contract special education teachers permanent. These teachers have been working for 20 years. The forum made this request in a letter to the CM.

In 1992, the United AP government made 47 IED resource teachers regular employees under the IEDC scheme. The Supreme Court will be reviewing the implementation of these appointments. The Education department has sent proposals to appoint 798 special education teachers at the elementary level and 727 special educators at the high school level. They have also sent a file with 1,523 posts to the CM’s Office for approval.

The SEFI is urging the CM to approve these appointments quickly. They are also asking for the regularisation of the 970 special educators who have been working for 20 years. They want these teachers to be freed from their current situation. The remaining posts can be filled through District Selection Committees, according to Kalpagiri, the SEFI national convener.
