Special Til-Taila Abhisheka Pujas Held at Shaniswara Swamy Temple
In Nagar Kurnool, special prayers were held at the Sri Sarthasapta Jeshtamata Sameta Shaniswara Swamy temple in Nandi Vaddeman village, Bijnapally Mandal. These prayers took place on the second Saturday of the Ashwayuja month. On this occasion, a special Til-Taila (sesame oil) abhisheka was performed for Lord Shani.
The temple’s head priest, Dr. Gavvamatham Vishwanatha Shastri, shared that many devotees from different regions came to the temple to offer prayers. They performed the abhisheka, or ritual bathing of the deity, using sesame oil and recited the Ashtottara Shatanamavali, which includes 108 sacred names of the deity.
Dr. Shastri explained that worshiping Lord Shani is considered highly beneficial for people who are experiencing difficulties due to the influence of Saturn in their lives. Devotees used sesame oil, flowers, and leaves from the Jilledu (crown flower) and Jammichettu trees during the pujas to bring peace and relief from Saturn’s harmful effects.
In addition to the pujas for Lord Shani, other rituals were performed for Lord Paramashiva, Nandishwara Swamy, and Lord Ganesha. Devotees also offered a Rudrabhisheka, a special worship dedicated to Lord Shiva. The event concluded with the distribution of sacred teertha (holy water) and prasadam to all the attendees.
Many people participated in the event, including the temple chairman, V. Gopala Rao, committee members Veerashekar, Prabhakar, Pullayya, the temple priests, and a large number of devotees, both men and women.
