    Khammam: Farmers are the backbone of the country. Chief Minister KCR’s leadership in the development of agriculture and welfare of farmers has made Telangana a model state for the nation, said Legislative Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy. He inaugurated various development programs, including festivals and foundation stone laying ceremonies, in Borlum village of Banswada Mandal on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Speaker Pocharam highlighted the achievements of the state in providing support to farmers such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bheema, 24-hour free electricity, and subsidized rates for purchasing paddy.

    Similarly, Telangana stands at the forefront in implementing welfare schemes. The state government has spent Rs 12,000 crore annually for the Aasara pensions, said Speaker Pocharam. He also mentioned that the farmers who are cultivating crops in the catchment area of the Nagarjuna Sagar Project have not received compensation for their produce.

    CM KCR has promised to provide an additional 5 TMC (thousand million cubic feet) of water from Singur or Kondapochamma reservoirs to meet the water requirement of 5 TMC in the Nagarjuna Sagar Project, revealed Speaker Pocharam. The program was attended by D. Anji Reddy, district president of Farmers’ Association, Dondla Neerajavankata Ram Reddy, Mandal President of Banswada, ZPTC Padma Gopal Reddy, Chairman of Banswada Agricultural Market Committee Nerra Narasimhulu, Chairman of Aatma Committee Mohan Nayak, representatives, and officials.
