The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has announced the launch of eco-friendly air-conditioned electric buses in Hyderabad. The buses are 12 meters long and come with advanced electric features.
Each bus has a seating capacity of 35 people and includes mobile charging facilities, seat belts, and CCTV cameras. It also has a reverse parking assistance camera and four LED boards for displaying destination details. The buses are equipped with a Fire Detection Suppression System (FDSS).
The electric buses can travel up to 225 km on a single charge, and it takes 2-3 hours for a full charge. Safety features include a panic button at every seat and a vehicle tracking system.
VC Sajjanar, the Managing Director of TSRTC, inspected the prototype of the electric AC bus at Bus Bhavan. TSRTC plans to introduce 1,300 electric buses in the Greater Hyderabad region gradually, with 25 buses being put into use soon.
Olectra has placed an order for 550 electric buses with Greentech Ltd, out of which 500 will be used in Hyderabad and 50 in the Vijayawada route. TSRTC is also in the process of purchasing another 800 electric buses for the city.
