    Hyderabad: Former Rajya Sabha member Solipeta Ramachandra Reddy (92) passed away due to ill-health in Hyderabad on Tuesday morning. His mortal remains have been kept at residence number 272 (A) in Banjara Hills. Today evening, the final rites are being conducted at the Film Nagar Mahaprasthanam in four hours.

    Hailing from Siddipet district’s Chitapura village, Ramachandra Reddy actively participated in the Telangana peasant movement with the inspiration of communist leaders. He had a long career in politics, starting from his days as a student at City College. He served as the Sarpanch of Chittapur, Chairman of the Dubbak Committee, Chairman of the Siddipet Agricultural Market Committee, Chairman of the Appati Medak District Central Cooperative Bank, and as an MLA from Dommati constituency. He also held several positions in the Telugu Desam Party, including State General Secretary, Member of Parliament, TDP leader in the Rajya Sabha, and Permanent Member of the Steering Committee in the Rajya Sabha.

    Apart from these political roles, Ramachandra Reddy also served as the Chairman of the India-China Friendship Association, as a member of the C.R. Foundation, and the Telangana Amaravirula Smaraka Trust. He actively participated in Lok Satta and worked together for many years. Ramachandra Reddy is survived by his wife, two sons, and one daughter. He had a younger daughter named Venkateshwari Reddy, who was married to renowned poet Dr. C. Narayana Reddy. His demise has deeply saddened many political leaders, including Chief Minister KCR.
