The Telangana State Seeds Development Corporation Limited (TSSDCL) created a software to ensure quality seed supply to farmers. On Friday, members of the central committee responsible for reviving the National Seeds Corporation visited the TSSDCL facilities in Hyderabad and were impressed with the software. They showed interest in using it and recommending it to other states and the National Seeds Corporation. The panel members suggested that the seed traceability system developed by the Telangana government should be implemented throughout the country.
The new system allows farmers to scan the QR code on seed packets to easily determine the origin of the seeds. Telangana is home to over 400 national and international seed companies, and the government could further support the industry by issuing online seed licenses.
Overall, the TSSDCL’s software received positive feedback from the central committee, who believe it could benefit farmers across the country.
