Tunnel Collapse in Nagarkurnool: Rescue Operations Underway
A serious accident occurred at the SLBC tunnel construction site in Nagarkurnool district when a section of the roof collapsed. The collapse happened at the 14th kilometer of the left-side tunnel, over a three-meter stretch. The government had recently resumed work on this project to speed up its completion, with construction restarting just four days ago. Unfortunately, an unexpected roof collapse took place this morning.
The accident occurred near Domalapenta in Amrabad Mandal. As soon as officials received the news, they rushed to the site to assess the situation. Reports confirm that three workers sustained serious injuries and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
This tunnel is an important part of a project to carry water from the Srisailam backwaters to Nalgonda district for irrigation and drinking purposes. The construction near Domalapenta is crucial to this plan, making the accident a major setback.
At the time of the collapse, about 50 workers were inside the tunnel. Around 8:30 AM, the roof suddenly gave way, leading to a massive landslide. Out of the 50 workers, 42 managed to escape, but eight workers remain trapped inside. Officials are making every effort to rescue them.

– Gumjeet Singh (Punjab)
– Sanneet Singh (Jammu & Kashmir)
