A serious case of medical negligence took place at the Nagarkurnool District Government General Hospital on Tuesday morning. Patients were left suffering for more than an hour because the duty doctors were not present.

The issue came to light after The Hans India published a report titled ‘Patients in severe distress due to absence of doctors on duty.’ After the report was published, hospital authorities took action to address the situation.

District Hospital Superintendent Dr. Raghu responded to the incident and apologized for the disruption in medical services. He stated that memos were issued to the duty doctor and five nursing staff members for their negligence. Additionally, a full inquiry has been ordered to investigate the matter further.

According to reports, several patients in critical condition arrived at the hospital’s emergency department. One patient was suffering from chest pain, another had kidney problems, a third had severe stomach pain, and a child was experiencing an ear infection. However, with no doctors available in the casualty ward, they had to wait for 30 minutes to an hour without receiving proper medical attention. Only one nurse was present to assist them, while another nurse was reportedly asleep even after 7 am. This highlighted serious mismanagement at the hospital.
