Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday about Telangana’s growing debt. She said that when Telangana was separated from Andhra Pradesh, it had a surplus budget. However, over time, the state has fallen into a serious financial crisis due to increasing debt.
She also clarified that the BJP-led central government has approved projects and allocated funds for Telangana. Sitharaman dismissed claims made by opposition parties that the central government was neglecting the state in terms of financial assistance.
The minister further added that Telangana has been given proper attention in the Union Budget. She also mentioned that Green Corridors are being developed, and the density of national highways has increased under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
