Panchayat Raj Minister Danasari Anusuya (Sitakka) conducted a review meeting on precautionary measures for rains and floods at the Secretariat with officials. She also reviewed the new and old connections under the Mission Bhagiratha scheme, instructing officials to identify old houses and take proper care. The officials were told to monitor flood water levels in ponds, lakes, dams, and reservoirs to prevent the spread of infectious diseases due to lack of sanitation and contaminated water.
Sitakka asked officials to keep an eye on goods stored in hotels, markets, and shops for potential disease outbreaks, advising temporary bans if necessary. Chicken farm owners were reminded to maintain hygiene, while measures such as removing water stagnation points, filling potholes, and bleaching were suggested for low-lying areas. District and divisional panchayat officials were directed to monitor sanitation daily and chlorinate drinking water tanks in their areas.
The minister emphasized the government’s readiness for any situation and instructed officials to alert residents in low-level areas. Under the Mahila Shakti scheme, school uniforms were almost ready for distribution to students once classes resume.
