    The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is planning to expand its mining activities and establish power plants in various parts of the country. They will focus on exploring iron ore in Bayyaram and set up a 1,600 MW power plant in Odisha, along with a 500 MW solar power plant in Rajasthan. The company, with 133 years of experience in mining, is now looking to venture into other sectors as well.

    SCCL is considering mining opportunities in other countries and a delegation will soon visit the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia to explore mineral resources. They are also working on forming ‘Khanij Videsh India Limited’ (KVIL) with other government sector companies like NALCO, HCL, and MECL. In addition to this, SCCL plans to set up a 1,600 MW power plant near the Naini coal block in Odisha and focus on mining mineral resources like cobalt, copper, lithium, and beryllium.

    The company is also looking to establish power plants at different locations. They are planning to set up 1,500 MW of solar power plants in the State and a 500 MW solar power plant in Rajasthan. SCCL is also considering wind electricity and pumped storage plants for the first time. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the need for long-term projects to secure the company’s future and urged officers and staff to work dedicatedly to help the company grow further amidst fierce competition in the coal mining sector.
