Hyderabad: The Haj Committee in Hyderabad is preparing for the next Haj season with a significant budget increase. The budget has almost tripled, rising from Rs two crores to Rs six crores. This increase aims to provide better accommodations and explore the best options for the pilgrims.

Officials, including the chairman, plan to visit Saudi Arabia to inspect accommodations and ensure they are suitable for the Telangana Hajis. The committee wants to ensure that both the living and transport arrangements are comfortable for the pilgrims. Chairman Kushro Pasha Afzal Biyabani mentioned that the inspection would be similar to previous efforts by the Building Samrakshana Committee during Unified Andhra Pradesh.

The committee discussed the accommodation issue with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy about a week ago. They requested the CM to write to the Union Government and Central Haj Committee to ensure good accommodations for the Telangana pilgrims.

In the most recent Haj, around 12,000 pilgrims from Telangana performed the pilgrimage to Mecca. Unfortunately, six of them died due to heatstroke and cardiovascular disease, which were among hundreds of such cases. The Haj Committee has received complaints about some volunteers, known as Khadimul Hujjaj, and has decided to take action against those with complaints. Chairman Biyabani stated that those who performed well would be recognized, while those with complaints would face disciplinary measures, including show cause notices and informing their parent departments for further action.
