Shravan Rao, who is one of the accused in the phone tapping case, appeared before the Jubilee Hills Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for questioning. The inquiry was led by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). Rao attended the session after receiving official notices from the police.
Before appearing for the inquiry, Shravan Rao had asked the Supreme Court for legal protection in the case. The High Court had already issued an order saying that the police could not take any immediate action against him. However, the Supreme Court told Rao that he must fully cooperate with the investigation.
The SIT team sent notices to Rao’s home on the 26th of this month, asking him to be present for questioning.
The phone tapping case began when Revanth Reddy, the former President of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), accused the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government of tapping phones during its time in power. After coming to power, Reddy’s government also reportedly gave orders to tap phones.
