A major investigation has begun in Mahabubnagar district after the Lokayukta got involved in looking into irregularities in double bedroom housing allocations. As a result, the District Collector’s office has sent show-cause notices to nine government employees.

Sources say the investigation found that nine government employees had previously obtained double bedroom houses in Survey Number 25. These houses were allegedly acquired under suspicious circumstances.

The District Collector is taking the matter seriously, especially in cases where the houses were given in the names of the employees’ daughters. This has raised concerns about the misuse of housing schemes meant for economically weaker sections.

Another case involves a government employee who reportedly got 200 square yards of land under the journalist quota for himself and an extra 150 square yards for his daughter through the BIPIAL double bedroom housing scheme.

The Lokayukta court is intensifying its investigation, and officials believe that more information will come to light as the probe continues.
