Two child marriages were stopped in Nagarkurnool district by the She team officer Vijayalakshmi. In one instance, the parents of a 16-year-old girl planned to marry her off in a village in Urukonda mandal. The girl sought help from the She team to stop the marriage.
In another case in Pedtakothapally mandal, a girl informed the She team that her parents were arranging her marriage to a 15-year-old student who had just completed tenth grade. The She team intervened by counseling the parents and preventing the marriage from taking place.
According to She Team ASI Vijayalakshmi, child marriage is a crime and strict action must be taken against those involved. She urged people to report any instances of child marriages by calling 87126 57676 or 1098. The program was attended by Venkataiah and others.
