Shadnagar echoes with chants of 'Shiva'

The Maha Shivaratri festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the Shadnagar constituency. Devotees started arriving at Shiva temples early in the morning on Wednesday to offer their prayers.

The temples echoed with chants of Lord Shiva’s name. Many devotees observed fasting and performed special pujas with deep devotion. The celebrations took place in various temples across the constituency.

In Shadnagar town, special pujas were conducted in several temples, including Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple, Kanyakaparameshwari temple, Sri Dattatreya Swamy temple, Sri Shiva Maruthi Geetha Ayyappa Mandiram, Chowdamma Gutta Anjaneya Swamy temple, and Shiva Anjaneya Swamy temple on Patel Road.

According to mythology, on Maha Shivaratri, Lord Shiva appears in the form of a lingam at midnight, known as Lingodbhava Kaalam. Devotees believe this moment brings blessings to the world. On this special occasion, they perform Abhishekam to Lord Shiva using Panchamrutam (a sacred mixture) and offer prayers with devotion.

Celebrations at Rameshwaram Temple

In the village of Rameshwaram, located in Farooq Nagar mandal, the famous Uttara Ramalingeshwara Swamy temple was filled with chants of Lord Shiva’s name. This temple, where Sri Rama himself installed a Shiva lingam, conducted grand Brahmotsavams on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.

Large numbers of devotees from Shadnagar and nearby areas visited the temple to seek blessings. The temple premises were packed with worshippers who lined up from morning till night. Devotees believe that praying here with devotion helps fulfill their wishes.

Shadnagar MLA Veerapalli Shankar, along with his family, visited the Rameshwaram temple and performed special pujas. Mahbubnagar MLC Nagarkunta Naveen Reddy also visited the temple with his family for darshan and pujas. Other dignitaries, including TWDJ (IJU) state leader Gudipalli Srinivas, also participated in the celebrations.

Heavy Security Arrangements

To ensure the safety of devotees during the Shivaratri Brahmotsavams at Rameshwaram temple, the police made extensive security arrangements. Officials from the fire department, dog squad, revenue department, and endowment department took necessary measures to manage the crowd and prevent any inconvenience.

Devotees from other states also arrived in large numbers to witness the Brahmotsavams. Under the leadership of local ACP Rangaswami, town CI Vijay Kumar, and Traffic CI Chandrasekhar, security was tightened. CI Vijay Kumar assured that special precautions were taken to prevent any untoward incidents during the celebrations.
