Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Mr. CV Anand has taken charge as the Police Commissioner of Hyderabad City again. This is his second time in the role, with his first tenure running from December 2021 to October 2023. Upon returning, Mr. Anand thanked the Hon’ble Chief Minister and the State Government for their support.
During a media interaction at his office, Commissioner Anand talked about his immediate priorities. He said his main focus is on ensuring a peaceful conclusion to the upcoming Ganesh idols immersion and Milad festivities. He plans to review the arrangements and action plans for these important events.
“City police preparations for all other events are usually considered like quarter-finals and semi-finals. The Ganesh bandobust (security arrangement) is like the finals, and I am confident that all officers will meet the challenge,” CP Anand remarked.
Looking ahead, Mr. Anand outlined some major goals for his new term. He aims to reduce traffic congestion, strengthen anti-drug operations through the H-NEW initiative, and improve law and order with effective policing and crime control measures.
During his previous term, Mr. Anand was known for introducing several innovative IT-based initiatives. These included D-CAMO and Fit Cop. He also brought about significant reforms, such as the creation of the Central Command Control (CCC), reorganizing the City Police, and appointing women Inspectors as Station House Officers (SHOs).
At the event, Mr. Anand was joined by several senior officials. Among them were Mr. Vikram Singh Mann, Additional CP (Law & Order); Mr. Viswaprasad, Additional CP (Traffic); Smt. Parimala Hananutan, DIG-ICCC; and Mr. Gajarao Bhoopal, Joint CP (Admin).
