Nagar Kurnool: On the International Day of the Girl Child, a special event was held at the Girls’ High School and Government Girls’ Junior College in Nagarkurnool. Judge Sabitha, the Senior Civil Judge, was the chief guest at the event, which was organized by the District Legal Services.
During her speech, Judge Sabitha emphasized the importance of supporting girls and allowing them to thrive. She encouraged girls to be brave and not fear harassment or attacks. She beautifully stated that just like the sky is dark without the moon, homes without daughters are filled with darkness.
Judge Sabitha also expressed her concern about the ongoing issues of harassment and trafficking of girls, even though the country is progressing. She highlighted that problems like child labor and early marriages still persist, especially in rural areas, due to poverty and a lack of awareness.
She shared that several organizations, including the police, women and child welfare groups, the district legal services authority, and NGOs, are working hard to raise awareness about these issues. Judge Sabitha also advised the girls to set clear goals from a young age and work towards achieving them. She encouraged them to speak openly with their parents or teachers if they face any problems.
The event was attended by College Principal Swaroopa, School Headmaster Bhaskar Reddy, lawyers Madhusudhan Rao, Shyam Prasad Rao, and Ramachandra Rao, along with court staff Keshava Reddy and Raju. Female teachers, college faculty, and students were also present at the gathering.
