Mulugu: Panchayat Raj Minister Danasari Anasuya, also known as Seethakka, announced that the government is committed to giving interest-free loans to DWCRA groups, also called self-help groups (SHGs). These loans aim to help and encourage women to succeed in business.

Speaking at a program in Chalvai village, located in Govindraopet mandal of Mulugu district, Seethakka said that the government wants to empower around 67 lakh women who are part of SHGs. She praised the SHGs for their hard work, saying it’s impressive how they have grown from saving just Rs 10 to handling crores of rupees.

She added that the Congress government is giving out interest-free loans worth Rs 20,000 crore every year to support women entrepreneurs. These loans are especially helpful in Mulugu, a tribal district known for tourist spots like the Ramappa Temple (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Laknavaram Lake, Bogatha Waterfalls, Medaram (home to tribal deities Sammakka and Saralamma), and the Mallur Laxmi Narasimha Swamy Temple.

The tribals requested basic services like drinking water, electricity, ration cards, and the setting up of Anganwadi centers. Seethakka promised to arrange water tankers to solve the drinking water issue and urged them to protect forests to help the environment.

Several officials were present during her visit, including Mulugu District Collector T S Diwakara, Superintendent of Police Shabarish, ASP Sivam Upadhyaya, and District Libraries Chairman Banoth Ravichander. Seethakka also took part in other programs held in different places where she distributed sanna biyyam (fine rice).
