On the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India, Smt. Indira Gandhi, Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Shri Ganesh paid tribute by garlanding her statue in Cantonment Rasoolpur.

During the event, Shri Ganesh spoke about Indira Gandhi’s major contributions to the progress of independent India. He mentioned that she served as Prime Minister for four terms and played a key role in the nationalization of banks. This move made banking services accessible to the poor, which had previously been available only to the wealthy.

Shri Ganesh also recalled Indira Gandhi’s famous slogan, “Garibi Hatao,” which called for the elimination of poverty. He highlighted her dedication to ensuring that all citizens had access to basic necessities — food, clothing, and shelter, known as “roti, kapada aur makan.”

The MLA further expressed that the current Congress government is committed to fulfilling the vision set by Indira Gandhi. He praised the leadership of Revanth Reddy for launching initiatives aimed at promoting women’s empowerment and self-reliance.

Shri Ganesh mentioned several programs in Telangana, such as Mahalakshmi, Indira Mahila Shakti, Gruha Jyothi, and Indiramma Indla, that are designed to fight poverty and improve the social and economic status of women.

In addition, the MLA thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for addressing water shortages in the cantonment area. He pointed out that the water supply had been increased from 5.5 million gallons per day (MGD) to 6.5 MGD, which has greatly improved the quality of life for local residents.

This event not only honored a key figure in India’s history but also highlighted the ongoing efforts to promote development and empowerment in the community.
