The Road Under Bridge (RUB) at Level Crossing (LC) gates 249 and 246 in Hyderabad, which has been delayed for a long time, will soon be constructed as part of the Amrit Bharat Stations scheme. The South Central Railways’ Hyderabad division has included these two RUBs in the plans for phase 2 of the project.
In Telangana, 15 railway stations are set for redevelopment under the second phase of the Amrit Bharat Station scheme. Additionally, around 49 Level Crossing (LC) gates in the state have been identified for improvement, with LC gate 249 (Turkapally) and LC gate 246 (Gowdavalli) included in this list.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually lay the foundation stone for approximately 2,000 railway infrastructure projects today. This includes 15 stations in Telangana, 34 in Andhra Pradesh, six in Maharashtra, and two in Karnataka within SCR limits.
The two level crossings in the Northern city are causing traffic congestion. Motorists at LC Gate 249 face long waits between National Highway 44 at Kompally and Rajiv Rahadari. The proposed Road Under Bridges (RUBs) aim to improve traffic flow and make commuting easier for residents.
A senior SCR officer mentioned that 156 Railway Over Bridges (ROB) and Road Under Bridges (RUB) will be constructed in four states under South Central Railways’ jurisdiction. This includes 49 in Telangana, 59 in Andhra Pradesh, 19 in Maharashtra, and 29 in Madhya Pradesh, with a total cost of nearly Rs 927.31 crore. These constructions aim to enhance safety for road and rail users, improve traffic flow, reduce delays at level crossing gates, and connect localities, villages, and towns effectively.
