Hyderabad: QR Code Payment Option Introduced at SCR Railway Stations
To encourage digital transactions, the South Central Railway (SCR) has introduced QR code payment systems at all general ticketing counters. A total of 879 counters across the SCR zone have been upgraded with the latest QR code-enabled devices.
According to SCR officials, this system will make ticket purchasing faster and eliminate the need for passengers to carry cash. The new facility aims to promote cashless transactions and simplify payments, even at general booking and reservation counters. Officials believe this will save time and make the process more convenient for travelers.
Each ticketing counter is now equipped with a device located outside the ticket window. The ticketing process begins with entering the passenger’s details into the system. A QR code is then displayed on the device, which passengers can scan using any UPI-based payment app on their smartphones. Once the payment is confirmed, the ticket is generated and handed over to the passenger.
Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager of SCR, encouraged passengers to use this digital payment option for both reserved and general tickets. He highlighted that this system will help passengers avoid the hassle of dealing with exact change and reduce transaction times.
Passengers across the SCR zone are urged to make the most of this modern, hassle-free ticketing system.
