South Central Railway (SCR) officials have taken strict action against individuals carrying inflammable articles and smoking on railway premises. During a month-long special drive, seven cases were booked against those carrying firecrackers in trains, and 219 cases were filed against people found smoking.
To prevent the carriage of dangerous items on railway premises, SCR conducted various awareness programs well before the Diwali season. Additionally, from October 18 to November 16, an intensive drive was carried out to educate users and impose penalties on violators.
Railway officials had previously warned passengers not to carry firecrackers or any other explosive or inflammable items like gas cylinders, petrol, and fuel. Extensive publicity in various media outlets and regular announcements at railway stations were made to raise awareness among passengers.
