Awareness Program on Natural Farming Held in Nagarkurnool
An awareness program on natural farming was organized on Tuesday at the Palem Agricultural Research Center in Nagarkurnool district. The event was conducted by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) to educate farmers about sustainable agricultural practices.
Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, Coordinator of KVK, spoke to the farmers about the importance of organic farming. He explained how natural farming methods can improve soil health and provide sustainable results in the long run.
Dr. K. Ramakrishna shared detailed techniques for preparing organic alternatives to chemical fertilizers and pesticides. He emphasized the benefits of these methods for both crop health and the environment.
Entomology expert Dr. O. Shaila introduced farmers to integrated pest management (IPM) practices. She provided guidance on various pest control methods that can be applied to different crops, reducing the need for harmful chemicals.
Horticulture scientist Dr. A. Shankar offered specialized advice for managing horticultural crops. He explained how natural farming methods could help increase productivity and improve crop quality.
Home science expert E. Jyotsna spoke about the potential of value-added products. She encouraged farmers to explore ways to boost their income by processing and marketing their produce.
Dr. B. Rajasekhar, an expert in agricultural marketing, provided valuable insights into current crop prices and effective marketing strategies. He advised farmers on how to make better profits by understanding market dynamics.
The program was attended by 40 farmers from villages such as Gadwal Gattu, Ellamma Doddi, and Rayapuram. The farmers actively engaged in the sessions and learned about sustainable farming methods. Scientists at the event stressed the economic and environmental benefits of adopting natural farming practices.
