    DEO E Somashekhara Sharma and District Science Officer D Jagadeeshwar recently inspected the installation of science exhibits at the upcoming science museum in Khammam. The museum is almost ready to open, bringing good news for children in the district.

    Located at the old DEO office on Trunk Road in Khammam, the museum is currently undergoing renovation to set up science exhibits. A Hyderabad-based supplier, GP Birla, has provided 27 exhibits covering various subjects like Biology, Science, Physics, Mathematics, and entertainment.

    The museum is being established at a cost of Rs 56.75 lakh. The exhibits alone cost Rs 40 lakh, while the renovation of the former DEO office cost Rs 16.75 lakh. The education department has signed a contract with the BM Birla Science Museum in Hyderabad to create and manufacture science museum displays. The district scientific officer mentioned that the construction of the science centre is progressing quickly and is expected to open by the end of July.

    The museum is crucial for promoting science and generating interest among students. The interactive and participatory exhibits in the museum are expected to make learning enjoyable for students. DEO Somashekhara Sharma expressed that the science centre would be a valuable resource for children, and efforts are being made to launch it as soon as possible. Following the inauguration, science excursions will be arranged for students to visit the centre.

    Nuevosol Energy Private Limited, a Hyderabad-based company, contributed Rs 20 lakh to the museum as part of its CSR initiative. Approved in 2008, the establishment of the science museum was revived by the district government in 2014.
