Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother, current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, have been invited to Saudi Arabia by the royal family to perform Umrah during the last 10 days of Ramadan. The invitation was extended by Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Nawaz Sharif, who is currently in self-imposed exile in London on medical grounds, will travel to Saudi Arabia on April 11 with his daughter Maryam Nawaz and other family members. He has been barred from holding office for life due to allegations of not disclosing millions of dollars worth of property and companies in the UK and around the world. While in Saudi Arabia, he will be a royal guest and will spend time in Medina and Makkah. Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif and his ministers will reach Saudi Arabia on April 25-26 for consultative meetings and to perform Umrah. During the meeting, the possibility of Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan will be discussed, and the Pakistan foreign ministry is aiming to organize a meeting between PM Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman. Doctors had advised Nawaz Sharif against performing Umrah last year due to health reasons.
