The Hyderabad police have uncovered an international online gaming and betting racket in Madhura Nagar. The operation was carried out by the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone Team, along with local police. They arrested five individuals and seized Rs 1.55 lakh in cash, Rs 2,13,697 from bank accounts, and other materials related to betting activities.
The police revealed that the accused were operating from a rented flat in Sri Divya Enclave. The arrested individuals—Sonule Srikanth, Gurle Harish, Gurle Satish Kumar, Sonule Thirupathi, and Ade Vinod—are all from Kagaz Nagar, Komaram Bheem District, Adilabad. They were friends who collaborated to run the betting business online. Their role involved managing registrations on gaming websites and tricking people into gambling.
According to YVS Sudheendra, DCP Task Force, the gang opened bank accounts and obtained SIM cards in the names of poor individuals by offering them money. They then used these accounts to manage transactions. At first, they attracted victims by offering small profits. However, as victims invested more money, they started to lose, as the accused manipulated the gaming system.
During the raid, police seized three MacBooks used for online gaming websites, one tablet, two color printers, 50 betting pamphlets, three betting charts, and 18 mobile phones. The gang had rented the flat three months ago for Rs 25,000 to conduct their betting operations. They created fake social media profiles on WhatsApp and Facebook under the name “Nitish Kumar” and even launched a YouTube channel called “TRIKAL MATKA @ gskmatka5478.” They charged Rs 1,000 from each person as a registration fee for betting.
The police continue to investigate the racket and take action against illegal betting activities in the city.
