Gadwal Women Celebrate Sankranti with Artistic Rangolis
In celebration of the Sankranti festival, women artisans from Jogulamba Gadwal district showcased their creativity by designing stunning and colorful rangolis inspired by Gadwal saree patterns. These beautiful artworks were displayed in front of their homes near the water tank in Raghavendra Colony, Gadwal town.
The artisans, who are highly skilled in weaving, also demonstrated the intricate process of making the famous Gadwal sarees on traditional looms. These sarees are celebrated worldwide for their unique and detailed borders, such as the Kanchukota Komm, Chinna Kotakomm, and Hamsa designs.
As part of the festivities, women like Kenche Padmavati, Lakshmi, Jyothi, and Madhavi transformed their doorsteps into vibrant artistic spaces. Using their creativity, they crafted rangolis that reflected the traditional motifs and elegance of Gadwal sarees. This activity not only added joy to the festival but also served as a tribute to their weaving heritage.
