    The SAHAS initiative, which stands for ‘Courage’, was launched in Hyderabad to support women who experience sexual harassment in the workplace. The launch took place at the ITC Kakatiya and was attended by State Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali, Director General of Police Anjani Kumar, Addl DGP Women Safety Wing Shikha Goel, and Varanasi Femina Miss India Manasa. The initiative includes a Sahas Microsite, Sahas Sathi Chatbot, Sahas Whatsapp Number, Forum, and online support facilities.

    During the launch, Mahmood Ali praised Telangana’s government and industry partnerships, calling the SAHAS programme another example of groundbreaking initiatives. Anjani Kumar also commended the initiative, stating that over three lakh employers in Telangana would benefit from awareness and training activities. Shikha Goel, who helped create and implement SAHAS, described it as a first-of-its-kind initiative in India.

    C Shekar Reddy, Chairman of CII & IWN, said that the SAHAS initiative would benefit from legal and training experts in creating an enabling ecosystem and strengthening existing support channels for their organizations. Bhagwati Baldwa, CMD of Kartikeya Group of Industries, expressed her happiness to sponsor the SAHAS Initiative. She believed that the solutions provided by SAHAS would go a long way in strengthening safety mechanisms at workplaces in Telangana.
