The State government is considering using the RR (Revenue Recovery) Act to get back money given as assistance under Rythu Bandhu for non-agricultural lands. Around Rs 10,000 crore was given as assistance during the BRS rule.
Officials are figuring out how to recover the money from owners of non-farming lands and use it for agricultural purposes like farm loan waivers and the Rythu Bharosa scheme. In one case, a District Collector directed a Tahsildar to recover Rythu Bandhu aid given to non-agricultural lands in Pocharam village.
Many people have taken advantage of the system by getting fake passbooks for lands that were sold long ago just to get Rythu Bandhu benefits. This has led to millions of rupees going into the accounts of real estate agents. If the RR Act is enforced statewide, the government could get back thousands of crores.
Overall, the government hopes to recover funds and use them for important agricultural initiatives.
