The Telangana government has increased its budget for Minority Welfare to Rs 3,591 crore, which is Rs 600 crore more than the previous year’s allocation of Rs 2,997 crore. This marks a 19.8% increase in funding. The Rs 840 crore set aside for self-employment schemes has been highlighted as a historic step.
During his budget speech, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the security and welfare of minorities in the state. As part of this commitment, the government plans to establish Young India Residential Schools, which will also include Minority Residential Schools from different regions.
“This initiative will provide minority students with high-quality education, ensuring equal learning opportunities and overall development,” said Bhatti Vikramarka. He also mentioned that the government has allocated sufficient funds for the Haj pilgrimage, which is of great religious importance to Muslims.
The Haj 2024 pilgrimage saw a record 11,446 devotees from Telangana, making it a significant milestone for the state. Additionally, under the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme, minority youth will receive self-employment opportunities with a funding of Rs 840 crore.
