Funds for Grampanchayats Disbursed: Minister Seethakka
Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka has refuted claims by the BRS that funds for Grampanchayats were not being provided. She stated that Rs 378.88 crore have been disbursed so far to cover the department’s expenses.
During a discussion on demands for grants, Seethakka mentioned that the current government has not ignored the Panchayat Raj department, even though it is facing a financial crunch. “We have already released funds to support salaries, although some amounts are still pending,” she said.
She explained that when the current government took power, the Panchayat Raj department already had an outstanding amount of Rs 1,500 crore. “Pending bills for Sarpanchas have led to numerous suicides,” she added.
Seethakka also announced that the government will launch the ‘Swatchadanam-Pachhadanam’ campaign from August 5 to 13 to increase greenery. “I urge everyone to participate in the greenery campaign. The government will resolve all the issues of the Panchayat Raj,” she concluded.
