The Telangana state government has allocated ₹21,000 crore to the Energy Department. A major focus is on completing all five units of the Yadadri Thermal Power Plant (YTPS), located in Veerlapalem village of Damaracherla Mandal, Nalgonda district.

While presenting the budget, Finance and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka explained that the project had been delayed due to the previous government’s failure to obtain environmental clearances. However, the current government has taken swift action to secure approvals. As a result, two units have already started generating power. The government is now working to ensure that all five units become fully operational by May 2025.
