Rangareddy: Two days before the Lok Sabha elections next month, Ranga Reddy collector K Shashank spoke to the media about preparations for the nomination process starting on Thursday at the Rajendranagar office. A control room and help desk have been set up at the Rajendranagar mandal office to oversee the election process in the Chevella segment.
The Chevella segment, which includes seven Assembly constituencies, has a total of 29,28,186 voters as of April 16. Four of these constituencies are in Ranga Reddy district, while the other three are in Vikarabad district. The Bandari Srinivas Institute of Technology has been chosen as the counting centre after consulting with political parties.
After polling, EVM machines will be brought back to designated locations before being taken to the counting centre in Chevella on May 4. The Election Commission has established 2,877 polling stations, including auxiliary, critical, and special locations. Rajendranagar has the most critical polling stations at 119.
Special vigilance and additional police will be present at troubled polling stations, with action taken against any violations of the election code of conduct. It is advised not to travel with more than Rs.50,000 in cash as any confiscated money will be handed over to a grievance committee for further action.
