In Rangareddy district, heavy rains over the last two days have caused significant damage. Around 40 houses were partially damaged, and two houses were completely destroyed. The district administration quickly sent teams to the affected areas to assess the damage. These teams have been asked to submit a report to the District Collector for further action.
District Collector K Shashanka held a video conference with revenue officials to discuss the situation. During the meeting, it was confirmed that the rains had caused both partial and complete damage to homes. The Collector asked for a detailed report on the extent of the damage.
The Collector, who also serves as the District Magistrate, instructed revenue and irrigation officials to conduct joint inspections of water bodies and canals. He emphasized the need to relocate people living in low-lying areas to safer locations. Additionally, the Collector directed Revenue Divisional Officers (RDOs) and Tahsildars to secure vulnerable government land within their jurisdiction by putting up fences.
The Collector also discussed the issue of pending notifications regarding water bodies, particularly with the Irrigation department. He pointed out that preliminary notifications for 100 ponds are still pending and that final notifications have been issued for only 99 out of 925 ponds in the district. He urged officials to provide adequate information about pending court cases and to focus on resolving these matters.
RDOs, Tahsildars, and various officials from the Revenue and Irrigation departments were present during the meeting.
