Farmers in Hyderabad may not receive Rythu Bharosa benefits during the upcoming kharif season. The State Government has decided to hold off on releasing the benefits until the farm loan waiver scheme up to Rs 2 lakh is completed.

Typically, the Rythu Bharosa benefits are directly deposited into farmers’ bank accounts by July. This year, the government is focusing on implementing the farm loan waiver scheme before August 15.

A Cabinet Sub-Committee led by Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has been established to create new guidelines for the Rythu Bharosa scheme. There were concerns about the benefits going to wealthy farmers under the previous government. The committee will recommend that only poor farmers receive the benefits. Their report is due by July 15 and will be discussed in the assembly before finalizing the new guidelines.

It will take at least 2 months to update the list of beneficiaries based on the committee’s recommendations. Officials estimate that the government will need about Rs 30,000 crore to implement the loan waiver scheme.
