Hyderabad: CM Revanth Reddy Urges Speedy Land Acquisition for Regional Ring Road
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed officials to expedite the land acquisition process for the northern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR). He emphasized the need for a quick completion of this process and suggested a liberal and fair approach in compensating farmers. District Collectors were instructed to ensure that farmers receive maximum compensation during the acquisition process.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting on Friday to discuss various matters, including land acquisition for RRR, national highways, compensation strategies, road construction under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) scheme, and the development of radial roads.
To facilitate smoother land acquisition, Revanth Reddy proposed holding discussions with local representatives and regular meetings with farmers. He noted that explaining the benefits of the road construction projects to the local communities would help in speeding up the process. The CM also mentioned that since the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has given in-principle approval for RRR (South), its alignment should be coordinated with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).
Revanth Reddy suggested several measures to address hurdles in land acquisition and forest clearances for newly approved national highway projects. He instructed Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Dobriyal to resolve forest clearance issues both at the State and Central levels. Additionally, a dedicated officer from the Roads & Buildings (R&B) and Forest Departments will be appointed to handle these issues.
The Chief Minister also directed Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari to review the progress of clearances every ten days. If delays persist, the R&B and Forest Ministers may need to visit Delhi to meet with the Union Minister and officials to secure the necessary permissions.
Revanth Reddy highlighted the government’s ambitious plans for road development. The R&B Department will construct 12,000 kilometers of roads under the HAM system, while the Panchayat Raj Department will develop another 17,700 kilometers. The construction projects will use the old districts as units for planning, and the goal is to complete these roads within three years.
