Hyderabad’s Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, recently went on an official two-week tour to the USA and South Korea to attract investments for Telangana. The tour seems to have been successful, as Cognizant’s CEO, Ravi Kumar, invited the Chief Minister to lay the foundation stone for a new facility in Hyderabad.

Revanth Reddy returned to Hyderabad on Tuesday night and is set to lay the foundation stone for a massive new facility. This new establishment will cover 10 lakh square feet and is expected to create 15,000 jobs in the IT sector. During his US visit, the Chief Minister met with Ravi Kumar and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Cognizant’s expansion in Hyderabad. The new campus will focus on advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital engineering, and cloud solutions.

Cognizant began its operations in Hyderabad back in 2002 and has since established five campuses in various parts of the IT corridor. The new campus will offer IT and ITES services and provide job opportunities for IT professionals. Currently, Cognizant employs 57,000 people in Hyderabad, making it the second-largest employer in the IT sector in the state.

According to official sources, Cognizant’s management is eager to quickly implement the agreement with the state government and expand its business in Telangana. This urgency is reflected in the decision to schedule the foundation stone laying for the new facility on the same day the Chief Minister returned from his US tour.

During his tour, Revanth Reddy participated in over 50 business meetings, attended three round tables, and went on several field visits. The tour concluded with 19 investment deals and MoUs, bringing in a total investment of 31,500 crore and creating 30,750 new jobs for the state.

Significant announcements were made in the IT sector, including the introduction of the Charles Schwab GCC, a leading American financial sector corporation. Another major highlight was Amazon’s decision to expand its data center presence in Hyderabad, using the city as a major hub for its India operations. The delegation, led by Revanth Reddy, also engaged with major companies like Apple and Google, as well as Stanford University.
