The TelanganaPCC chief, A Revanth Reddy, has promised a minority sub-plan similar to the SC, ST sub-plan. He stated that once the party comes to power, this plan will become a reality, as the Congress party has a history of fulfilling promises, including the formation of the state.
At the ‘Minority Declaration’ event, attended by former Union Minister Salman Khurshid and other prominent figures, Revanth emphasized his commitment to this promise. He stated that the minority sub-plan, similar to the SC, ST sub-plan, will be implemented once the party comes to power. He guaranteed that a Minority Sub-plan Act will be created.
During the event, Revanth encouraged party members to raise slogans in support of the Congress party. He also addressed one major concern of the Muslim community, which is the shrinking of Waqf lands. Revanth pointed out that these lands have decreased from over 70,000 acres at the time of state formation to around 4,000-5,000 acres currently. He assured that a new law will be created to protect Waqf lands and set an example for the rest of the country.
The Minority Declaration includes several promises such as increasing the budget to Rs 4,000 crore and establishing a dedicated minorities sub-plan. It also includes financial assistance schemes for minority youth completing higher education degrees. Additionally, it promises to establish a Telangana Sikh Minority Finance Corporation, fill vacancies in minority institutions, and conduct special recruitment exams for Urdu medium teachers. The declaration also includes amendments to existing laws and policies to improve minority welfare.
Furthermore, the declaration offers financial support of Rs 1.6 lakh for newly-wed couples belonging to minority communities such as Muslims, Christians, and Sikhs.
