Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of Hyderabad has warned that strict action will be taken against officials and staff if there are power outages in the State. He expressed his anger at Energy department officials for recent power outages, and criticized some officials for not fulfilling their duties properly.

Reddy mentioned that there are some people trying to tarnish the government’s reputation by spreading false information about power supply. He instructed department officials to combat any misinformation about power-cuts, despite an increase in power supply.

During a meeting at the Secretariat, the CM questioned officials about the ongoing campaign on power-cuts. The CMD of TRANSCO and GENCO explained that power supply has actually increased compared to last year, but there were interruptions in certain areas due to negligence by some officials.

Officials admitted that power-cuts were caused by failures to monitor power load fluctuations in sub-stations properly. Reddy urged officials to inform consumers in advance if there will be any interruptions in power supply for repairs or maintenance. He also mentioned that some field-level staff, appointed by the previous government, may be purposely causing power-cuts to discredit the current administration.

The CM requested a thorough investigation into any power-cuts lasting more than five minutes in the State, except for technical or natural causes. Officials assured that an action plan is in place to ensure smooth power supply during peak months of February, March, and April.
