Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief, A Revanth Reddy, has challenged Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to contest from Kodangal. This comes after the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) claimed to have developed the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district. Revanth Reddy stated that he is ready to take on the Chief Minister, even if it means a face-off in Kamareddy, where Rao is currently contesting.
Revanth clarified that there is a chance the party high command will give him the go-ahead. He mentioned that if instructed, either Bhatti Vikramarka or himself would contest against KCR in Kamareddy and against his son KTR in Sircilla. They are prepared to defeat both KCR and KTR.
In terms of the possibility of a hung Assembly, Revanth expressed confidence that the Congress would win with a two-thirds majority and be able to form the government. He referred to the combination of the BRS, BJP, and AIMIM as a single entity determined to defeat Congress, which he called the ‘Chaddi gang.’ Revanth alleged that BJP and BRS will jointly contest in the Parliamentary elections.
Revanth Reddy highlighted that the BRS government has repeatedly violated the Model Code of Conduct, leading the Congress to file a complaint with the Election Commission. He clarified that Congress is not against providing Rythu Bandhu benefits to farmers and demanded that the Telangana government transfer these funds to farmers’ accounts before November 2. He argued that this principle should apply to all cash transfers for welfare schemes to ensure beneficiaries receive their entitlements before the nomination day.
Revanth also mentioned that the party has raised concerns with the Election Commission regarding the misuse of official spaces, such as Pragati Bhavan and MLAs’ camp offices. He alleged favoritism displayed by officials aligned with the BRS party over the past nine years and urged the Election Commission to appoint IAS and IPS officers as SPs and collectors in all districts. He also requested the removal of retired officials from service who are operating as a private army for the BRS party.
Regarding the Medigadda barrage, Revanth alleged that the BRS government is attempting to divert attention by claiming that damage was caused due to sabotage. He added that this failure highlights the government’s lack of proper soil tests and technical assessments before constructing the Kaleshwaram project.
