The election campaign in Telangana is heating up as the pink party and the Congress party clash over farmers’ loan waivers. Responding to criticism from BRS leader T Harish Rao about the failure to implement a loan waiver scheme, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy promised to implement a Rs 2-lakh loan waiver scheme by August 15, no matter what challenges arise.
Revanth Reddy addressed party workers in Kodangal, highlighting the government’s ability to repay Rs 26,000 crore in interest passed on by the previous government despite facing a budget deficit of Rs 3,900 crore when coming into power. He also called out KCR for failing to fulfill promises made during his decade-long rule, particularly regarding loan waivers for farmers.
Accusing BJP candidate DK Aruna of opposing important projects like the Narayanpet lift irrigation project, Revanth emphasized his commitment to the development of Palamuru compared to his opponents. He also questioned BRS candidate RS Praveen Kumar’s decision to align with KCR, criticizing him for abandoning the SC categorization issue.
During a public meeting in Nagarkurnool, the Chief Minister discussed the opportunities missed by Praveen Kumar, noting that he had turned down a position as TSPSC chairman offered by the Congress. Revanth suggested that accepting the position could have greatly benefited weaker sections of society.
