Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim that the Congress party made false promises regarding crop loan waivers in Telangana. The Prime Minister had said that Congress failed to implement these promises. However, Revanth Reddy refuted this, affirming that all crop loans below Rs 2 lakh were successfully waived off.
Revanth Reddy shared a formal letter on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and tagged the Prime Minister. In the post, he explained that the Congress government had fulfilled its promise within the first year of taking office. He stated, “Every crop loan below Rs 2 lakh was waived off, as promised. This benefited 22,22,067 farmers, with a total amount of Rs 17,869.22 crore. This is the largest farm loan waiver since the formation of Telangana.”
He also assured that the government would soon address the loans of farmers who owe more than Rs 2 lakh. These farmers will receive waivers once they pay off the amount exceeding the Rs 2 lakh limit.
Revanth Reddy further urged the central government to fully cooperate in promoting the welfare of farmers in Telangana. He emphasized that Telangana’s efforts could serve as a model for other states. “Our farmers trust the Congress Guarantee, and I believe our actions show our commitment to their welfare,” he said. He also requested the Prime Minister’s guidance and support in continuing to prioritize agriculture in the state.
