Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has criticized Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy for not securing central approvals for long-pending projects in the state. The key projects include the Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion and the Musi River rejuvenation.
In a letter to the Union Minister, the Chief Minister pointed out that metro rail projects in Chennai and Bengaluru had received approval from the central government. However, the Hyderabad metro rail expansion and Musi revitalization projects, including the Godavari linkage and infrastructure development, were still awaiting approval.
Revanth Reddy accused the central government of neglecting the Musi rejuvenation project while supporting similar initiatives like the Sabarmati and Ganga river projects. He also mentioned that Telangana had sought approvals for the Regional Ring Road but had not received a positive response from the Centre or from Kishan Reddy. Additionally, the proposal for a Greenfield Highway connecting Hyderabad’s dry port to Bandar Seaport in Andhra Pradesh remained pending.
The Chief Minister urged the Union Minister to focus on securing special sanctions and funds worth ₹1,63,559.31 crore for Telangana instead of making political statements and criticizing the state government. He emphasized that it was Kishan Reddy’s moral responsibility to obtain approvals and funds for projects that would benefit the state.
Speaking at a press conference, Revanth Reddy also alleged that the central government was planning to marginalize southern states through the delimitation of Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies. He claimed that the BJP was trying to remain in power permanently by making changes based on population, which could negatively impact southern states. He assured that the Congress party would fight against this move and expose the BJP’s alleged conspiracy to the public.
