The president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), A Revanth Reddy, has accused the government of carrying out the biggest scam in India by leasing the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to a Mumbai-based company for Rs 7,380 crore. Reddy claimed that the lease involved a kickback of Rs 1,000 crore and questioned the need for leasing the ORR, which is expected to generate a minimum income of Rs 30,000 crore annually. He also demanded clarification on how toll collection on the ORR has been conducted since 2018 and alleged that KTR and his associates have used the ORR as a source of income.

Reddy warned that the Congress party would review decisions made within six months of the current government stepping down and would order a probe to investigate the role of individuals involved in the alleged extortion. He accused former Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and senior IAS officer Arvind Kumar of overseeing the leasing process and called for consequences for those involved. Reddy also criticized the government for exploiting existing infrastructure as an investment and preventing people from using it.

Reddy expressed disappointment that the decision to lease the ORR would prevent people from using it and that the government had sold away an essential infrastructure asset. He stated that he would file complaints with various investigating agencies and demanded that HMDA officials reveal the party responsible for toll collection since 2018. Reddy also questioned the BJP’s silence on the matter and called for a response from its leaders.
